Farmdrop is the first farm food home delivery service based in London and Bristol to use electric vehicles.

Farmdrop have an on-line platform and app, which has around 30,000 regular users. It connects consumers with producers with Farmdroppers delivering the products in a fresh, timely and ethical manner. The company specialises in food from 70 farms and other producers within 150 miles of London, using electric vehicles to complete the deliveries to their customers.

The business already use a routing and scheduling solution to plan deliveries and a Proof of Delivery application to ensure accurate deliveries, however they were looking at ways to increase efficiencies and improve the performance of both the vehicles and the drivers.

LEVL introduced the Geotab telematics platform which has been configured to work with an electric vehicle fleet and provide data specific to the customer needs.To prove the solution would work for Farmdrop we installed a pilot system and monitored the performance of the electric vehicles, providing the customer valuable information on state of charge, current charge state and driver behaviour data.

After an extensive trial and a visit to an existing customer of LEVL, Farmdrop decided to install the Geotab solution throughout the fleet of Nissan NV200 vehicles.

We have produced a specialised dashboard of key performance indicators along with valuable electric vehicle data, all provided via the simple to use MyGeotab software platform. The Farmdroppers use the Geotab Drive application on Android smart phones to record driver ID, daily vehicle inspections and to see where they stand on the integrated Driver Challenge app D2GO Geotab Add-In.

Farmdrop’s customer service department known as the Happiness Team have full access to the MyGeotab portal, this access allows them to improve customer service by providing detailed information on delivery slots to their clients.

We are already working on new improvements to the solution, with plans for full integration to both the routing package and POD solution utilising the fantastic Geotab SDK that will enable the use of all 3 systems together and provide even better data insights to Farmdrop.
